South Martin Regional Utility
The South Martin Regional Utility (SMRU) is an independently operated unit of the Town’s government. It was created in 1998 with the Town’s acquisition and combination of two formerly separate water and wastewater utilities into one operating utility. The main administrative and customer service office is located at
9000 S.E. Athena Street
in Hobe Sound, and there are also several water and wastewater operating plants and treatment facilities located throughout Hobe Sound. The utility currently serves about 8,700 water and 6,700 wastewater customers in southeast
Martin
County
, including
Jupiter
Island
. S.M.R.U. is governed by a five member Board consisting of the five members of the Town Commission.
